The only time the FaN isn't ideal is when sniper players are involved.
Knockback on the FaN isn't enough to seriously impact giants, while it also makes headshots far more difficult. In such situations, I'd recommend a Soda Popper or Stock Scattergun, possibly even the Back Scatter, but i've always been biased towards tank damage too much to take backstab weapons myself. And since this is in the event of a sniper, unless he's got a bushwhacka, he's in the same boat as Heavy and Engie when it comes to tank damage, okay, but problematic and inferior to non-bullet classes.
